Wacky ways to get up in the morning

If you hate getting up in the morning you are not alone. There are companies that are making a good living out of selling wacky inventions to get you up in the morning and keep you up. First up is the alarm clock invented by the guys at MIT. It goes off but once you hit the snooze alarm it rolls off the nightstand and hides somewhere. The next time it goes off you are forced to get up and look for it to turn it off. Next is the alarm clock that has puzzle pieces on top of it. When you hit the snooze on that one the pieces go flying and you have to find all the pieces to turn the damn thing off.

The reality of the TV news is "off the wall"

You have by no doubt been following the bizarre case of the 400+ children taken from a sect called FLDS, in Texas. This "religious", and I use the term loosely, group has set up a small city on 1,700 acres. Their main practice of polygamy seems to be the main object of their religion. Isn't it always the case of these weird sects to base a religion on SEX? Their male leaders are so fascinated with sex that they can't wait to get their hands on young girls. Modern American society calls those men predators and has a registry for sex offenders like them. There are reports of a special bed in the main temple that was set up for the wedding night of these young girls to the older predators - opps I meant husbands.

All this group seemed to lack is the harem girl outfits and the armed guards around the compound (although they do have towers and a fence around the place).

Here is a group of about 600 people that are openly breaking the law by practicing polygamy and brainwashing their children the "this is what God wants", then they have their kids taken away from them and wonder why! Here is the latest article from CNN on the case.

A sweater for a tree

Yes you read the title of this post correctly. Someone hand crocheted a sweater for a tree. Not just for the main trunk but for all the branches as well. You can view the full color pictures as well as the rest of the story at this blog - Musings from a male knitter

Green hen eggs

Now this news item did not make it to this blog because it is odd, no it got here because it is NOT odd. This is a news item that should not have been news. A chicken layed green eggs. Someone thought that was news worthy. I have news for them - there are breeds of chickens that lay nothing but green or blue eggs, they are bred for it. Nothing odd about it. It is just that the city folks didn't know that. Next we will be having news videos about where ham comes from. Come to think of it one of the top stories on digg.com was how a horse was shoed. Have we come that far away from the farm that people don't know how food or livestock are handled anymore?

Student bloopers

This website will have you rolling in the aisles. It is a collection of what students have written and submitted in school. Here is an excerpt:

The inhabitants of ancient Egypt were called mummies. They lived in the Sarah Dessert and traveled by Camelot. The climate of the Sarah is such that the inhabitants have to live elsewhere, so certain areas of the dessert are cultivated by irrigation. The Egyptians built the Pyramids in the shape of a huge triangular cube. The Pyramids are a range of mountains between France and Spain

The Darwin Awards website

If you need to re-affirm that being human is not just about intelligence then you have got to visit the website The Darwin Awards. It is a website that gathers all the really stupid news items that people do.
